Memorial Services for Mom - Mesa, Arizona

There are so many people that loved Mom and many of them in Mesa, we have decided to have a memorial service for Mom in a town she loved and loves her, Mesa, Arizona at the Solomon church house on the corner of Solomon and Broadway.

It will be on Saturday, December the 13th at 11:30 AM, with a time for gathering and visiting at 10:30 AM.

All the children will be there, except David of course, who will be represented by his spouse Karen.

We are so grateful for the care and concern from so many of you. We are thrilled to be where she loves and where she and dad were married 55 years ago.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email one of us for an immediate response.

Jan - jan-brent@comcast.net

THANKSGIVING 2008

Just a quick update. After having a great birthday with lots of people and lots of love that we told you about below, Mom is really sleeping a lot. Tuesday afternoon she was pretty alert for 4-5 hours. Wed we only got her for a few minutes at a time after about 3 in the afternoon. She had a pretty rough night last night and is sleeping well this morning.

She has always loved Thanksgiving , having .... how she puts it "ruined her family Thanksgiving dinner of 1927, by arriving right in the middle of it" ...... We had fears, worries, etc, that she may do the same thing today. But luckily for us she didn't. It is now almost 10:30 in the evening and although still sleeping, she is still with us. We woke her us when all the company came about noon and she went out to her chair, and was up but being awake only off and on ... to say hello to grand kids ... then about 3 we put her back to bed and she has been asleep since then. We don't know how many more opportunities we will be able to enjoy her awake, but her warm and loving spirit is still being felt around her. When she does wake up, after asking for some water, She keeps telling us of her love for us. She is really a trouper and we love her more than we can put on this page.

We will keep you updated.

HAPPY 81st BIRTHDAY

(Her and her Kids)
She made it!!! If you would have asked us a couple of months ago if she was going to make her 81st birthday..... we would have all been very skeptical, to say the least. But, she did it!! Ray and most of his family decided that the event was worth a trip and they all drove up on Sat. and we met together that night at Joan's theater. Mom went also and saw the show, then stayed for some of the Karaoke, staying up until almost 11. She paid for it the next day and was totally wiped out for most of the Sabbath. However, she insisted on going to Sac. meeting and Lori's SS class. Monday - Her birthday!!! She slept until we woke her up with another surprise..... Karen, Shawna, and Matthew had flown in to be with her for her birthday. She had a wonderful day with lots of people around her who love her.

(these are all the grandkids that were there)

That night we returned to Showtime Utah! and had a grand time with everyone who was there. Out of a posterity of 62 she had 44 of them there. We had the great opportunity to individually tell her of our love and special memories of her and Dad.

(individually expressing love)

We even got the chance to have some pictures take with her. We won't bore you with ALL of them, because there were 5 cameras going and we were all taking pictures of each person talking to Mom.

(She has been loving all the babies this week, so here is a pic of some of them and even a few that have yet to arrive!!)

She is doing GREAT

Well, I have heard complaints that there hasn't been any news on the blog about Mom. Well, that is true, because she is pretty much the same as she was a couple of weeks ago. Oh, wait a minute... no she isn't SHE IS BETTER!! than she was a couple of weeks ago. She has spent a few days as Marti's house, then back to Jan's, and now she has wondered off to Lori's!! While there she has continued being up and about (including walking up and down stairs), and added to her list of new accomplishments.... she went to Sacrament Meeting and Sunday School!!! So, even though she is feeling weaker and has lost a lot of weight, she is really doing quite well. One of these days we are going to get some new pics on this site.... but for now..... trust us! She looks great!!!

Doing Better

Once again mom is beating the odds. After an active weekend of visiting with friends and family, she was feeling a little confined and feeling like she was stuck in these 2 rooms ... so she wanted to walk down the stairs to the basement to her apartment. After watching her walk so well with the walker, we decided..... what the heck.... why not! And she did. She walked down the stairs helped us unpack her suitcases (from after Missouri and before the hospital) found some books and information she had been concerned about, and went through some other stuff. The Nurse came and did all her dressing changes and her business also in the apartment, then she walked back up the stairs and to her room upstairs.... Without hesitation or getting out of breath. So, Yes she is doing quite well!!!

She also asked me to tell you that she is ready and willing to talk on the phone. When she first got sick she wasn't to excited about talking on the phone, and then the NG tube made her throat sore and she sounded awful and it hurt to talk, but now, all of that is over and she has her phone charged and ready to go. So if you want to talk to her.... she would be happy to oblige you :-)

Grandma and Sarah also discovered that they have the same great taste in shoes! Same brand, same size and everything.

She's up and about

And for Today..... Here she is doing her passion..... story writing.... she was ready to get started and wanted to do it NOW!! Show she is at it again. We love having her here.

Last weekend was a fun one with lots of company and activities going on. She got to watch 2 of her grandkids make quilts while they were entertaining themselves during the snowstorm.

If you notice she is up in the chair where she has spent a lot of time the last few days. She is also using her wheelchair (when she is tired) and her walker (when she want's exercise)

Her sisters decided that she was really doing so well that there was no need for them to hang around. So they went home on Monday and Sunday night and Monday morning they had a real great Sister's party with lots of laughs, giggles, story telling and tears. It has really been
